Although I haven’t been typically charmed by Article Marketing all together, there was a short while that I have been using this strategy. By many it is known as bum-marketing because, it costs nothing and results should be very good. Since I was stupid enough not to keep an eye on the articles I had submitted, it completely escaped my attention that I received an expert author status and my articles have been published to over a dozen websites. Suddenly I realized where those referrers in my Google Analytics account came from. If I only had payed more attention…

So, now being an “expert author” and all (brag…brag) and the distribution network is working, doesn’t it seem logical to start writing more articles as soon as possible? Well, I do have some doubts. One reason being a high traffic website I owned a few years ago. It occurred to me that almost ALL top 100 sites (according to Alexa) are not producing much content themselves or only seem to refer to people that have the “real” content. In short, it appears to me that compiling stuff into one place or package is more effective then going through all the hard work and create unique content yourself.

Hmm..sounds familiar and it also reminds me of someone!

Bill Gates

In case you wonder who this is, he is the man behind Microsoft and probably the fastest and biggest wealth creationist ever to hit the face of the planet as far as we know of. This man walked right into the Xerox company and like Apple he “borrowed” their software which was a free version of what we now know has become windows (in those days Xerox and IBM alike, didn’t believe software would be profitable). Next thing, Bill Gates and his companions went to IBM and pulls the stunt of the ages. He license IBM a Disk Operating System (DOS) that he doesn’t even posses. Then walks out the door and starts his hunt to get fifty grand as an investment to have the DOS developed for him… A few lucky people apparently got extremely rich from this one time investment.

He then makes deals in the east providing a personal computer (developed by Apple) that runs windows (early development by Xerox) on the operating system that he did NOT create (development by some other guy) and plugged in a keyboard and… a mouse (also developed by apple).

Now, let me ask you! Who is going to generate wealth faster? The person spending every precious minute DEVELOPING or the one SCRAPING together some stuff and ASSEMBLE it to be a more complete pack. The last goes much faster without limiting yourself to the small area the developers are mostly bound to. Another benefit is that if it didn’t work… at least you didn’t waste to much time…a “developer” doesn’t often have this luxury!

Anyways, to come back to where this story started (remember articles?) A lot of time and research goes into writing these articles. Then it generates only a little bit of traffic, while the sites publishing my hand written article are getting way more visitors then I do. And all that these websites do is scraping content from all over the web without the need for intelligence, creativity, knowledge or any kind of responsibility for the content what-so-ever! It’s kind of disturbing…
